The Denver Center for the Performing Arts presents Broadway tours and produces cabaret through our presenting division, Denver Center Attractions. Created in 1979 by joining forces with local independent presenter Robert Garner, this division fills
The Buell Theatre, the
Ellie Caulkins Opera House and
The Garner Galleria Theatre.
To date we have:
- presented more than 300 productions
- produced ten cabaret shows
- launched five national tours
- created four new works for the American musical repertoire
A cornerstone of Denver’s thriving arts community, our first engagement of The Phantom of the Opera in 1991 brought people from 26 states and generated $40 million into the economy. Just a decade later when we launched Disney’s The Lion King, more than $58 million was pumped into Denver’s economy, contributing to a $1 billion economic impact from the metro area’s cultural attractions. Our continued success clinched our selection for the 2007 pre-Broadway engagement of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.
In 1992, we added cabaret productions at The Garner Galleria Theatre leading to the record-breaking four-year run of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
Under Executive Director Randy Weeks, we’ve produced original musicals including I Love a Piano, Dorian and Heaven Help Us as well as collaborations with our sister division, the Denver Center Theatre Company, such as the sell-out production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.
