RegisterWednesday, August 13

After arrival in Edinburgh (on your own), airport transfer (on your own) and hotel check-in (begins at 3pm), our tour will begin with a welcome dinner along with a private discussion with a Fringe Festival official who will tell us about the Festival’s performance selection and process. We also will enjoy an orientation of the International and Book festivals.

Thursday, August 14

We begin our day with a coach/walking exploration of Old Town (15th and 16th centuries) and New Town (17th and 18th centuries) including the major theatres used for the Fringe and International festivals. We then enjoy a performance and introduction to the Traverse Theatre, dedicated to the production of new plays, followed by lunch on your own. Our tour then continues with a performance at the Assembly Rooms which has four venues dedicated to excellence in productions from around the world. Following dinner on your own, we walk to the Hill Street Theatre, dedicated to the very best in one-person shows, for a performance.

Friday, August 15

Our morning begins with a brief comparison of notes about the performances experienced yesterday, an introduction into using the Edinburgh Festival apps* (see note below) and an orientation as to choosing (on your own) Festival shows that are included in the cost of the tour. We then depart for C-Venue, which consists of theatres, cabarets, rooms, behind-pubs and cafes all designed to nourish new playwrights from around the world. In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to use our special credentials to order their own tickets (included in the tour) for two Fringe Festival performances. Later that evening, we enjoy as a group an Edinburgh International Festival dance/music/theatre performance TBD.

* Please Note:
To get the most out of the Edinburgh Festivals, we ask that you please bring a smartphone, which will have internet access in the UK. This will enable you to use the Edinburgh Festival apps to choose the shows you will want to see, use Google Maps for walking between theatres, use the Edinburgh Bus Transit App for riding, if necessary, between theatres, and call a special phone number in order to use your credentials and order tickets for the shows of your choice.

Saturday, August 16

This day will be similar to Friday: we will discuss shows enjoyed the previous day (to help you make decisions for performances today), use our special credentials to order tickets to two Fringe Festival performances of your choice, and complete the day by attending an Edinburgh International Festival dance/music/theatre performance TBD.

Sunday, August 17

Our morning and afternoon will be filled with a special Edinburgh experience, including lunch and dinner as a group culminating with VIP entrance to the Tattoo, Edinburgh’s famous bagpipe and fireworks extravaganza.

Monday, August 18

The morning is at leisure followed by two Fringe Festival performances of your choice, which you order using our special credentials. A farewell dinner we enjoy as a group completes the day.
