Standard American Accent for the Actor
Get comfortable with the subtleties of Standard American stage speech that is often used in Shakespeare, Chekov, Molière and for most playwrights who have been translated into English. In addition, you’ll have fun with Transatlantic and BBC Broadcast speech – the accepted American dialects used in Hollywood and the news industry from the early to middle 20th century. Bring your favorite monologue and practice a coveted skill that every good actor must know. You will dabble with the International Phonetic Alphabet as a useful written method of learning Standard American as you do scenes from famous movies and newscasts from well-known historic events.
