Set on an estate in rural Russia in the late 1800’s, Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya is a hilarious and wrenching look at unrequited love, class, excess and human desire. Vanya and Sonya are managing the family farm, when Sonya’s father returns with her young and beautiful stepmother, Yelena. Their arrival and visits from a local doctor, Astrov, set off a series of interactions and events that swirl downward quickly, resulting in behavior that is at once funny and tragic, and the essence of human behavior. Welcome to Chekhov’s long hot sexy Russian summer!
For the audition, prepare one contemporary monologue. Also, be prepared for cold readings. Bring a headshot and current resume. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an audition time.
Two previous DCPA Education classes or workshops required to audition.
