Shakespeare in the Parking Lot is exactly what it sounds like: an abridged performance of Romeo & Juliet or A Midsummer Night's Dream that takes place in and around our pick-up truck "set" that we drive to your school's parking lot. Performances are followed by an in-class, interactive workshop that helps students connect themes of the play to contemporary issues and the high school experience.

"This is a poor little school no one knows about. Today it feels just a little bigger. It's like people care about us."
-Bella Schroeder, Weld Central High student

"Without being able to see it live, how can [students] see how the story breathes?"
-Iris Mesbergen, Weld Central High teacher

EXPLORE THE EXPERIENCE: Students at Weld Central High were some of the first to pilot our program. Hear their stories and reactions in our News Center feature and watch the video above to see what the day meant to them.

Shakespeare in the Parking Lot

"It doesn’t appear that arts education will ever escape the need for support from the private sector…it’s a need that is not going away. It is very important to us that we can identify how funds will be used, and that they will provide an opportunity for some unknown kids to have a hell of a good time." — Carole & Robert Slosky, donors
