Duncan just wants to color – but his crayons have other plans! They’ve written him letters announcing they’ve quit. Blue is exhausted from oceans and skies, Green wants more than grass, and Orange and Yellow are in a sunny standoff. Can Duncan find a way to make peace and get his colorful crew back to work? This interactive class will create, rehearse, and perform a play based on the book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. Actors must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances. Audition preparation is not necessary, as auditions will be done as part of the first days of the program and a speaking role is guaranteed with registration. Sing loud and proud at the DCPA! Let your voice soar and your imagination shine! In this dynamic two-week camp, performers team up to create and perform their own original 10-minute musical. From story development to lyric creation to dance moves and design, young performers dive into every part of the creative process. Each grade level builds performance skills and ensemble storytelling in a musical of their very own. The session wraps up with a joyful mainstage performance where students share their original musical with family and friends – an unforgettable celebration of creativity, teamwork, and theatrical magic!

Song, dance and characters, oh my! Ensemble and creativity sets the stage for the fun and camaraderie of an actor’s life. Discover how stories are told on stage, on screen, and in song. This delightful week of discovery is a terrific way to explore how creativity and collaboration are honed within the theatre arts. While this class does not include a final sharing, the focus is on process over performance – through theatre exercises, ensemble-building, and creative exploration, young actors sharpen theatre skills and thrive as a team.
