Billy Higgins

William “Billy” Higgins (he/they) is an international physical theater performer, circus artist,
director, and devised theatre maker. His applied theatre work, The Constitutional Arts Project,
has been presented at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and aspects to the Broadway Advocacy
Coalition’s (BAC) Theatre For Change Forum, and J-Term, contributing to BAC’s 2021 Tony
Award. Additional credits include The Public Theater (Black Issues Issues), Berkeley Repertory
Theatre (Treasure Island), The Turkmen State Circus as a United States Cultural Ambassador,
The Samuel Beckett Center (The Wolves of Mibu and In the Sawtooths), and Lisa Giobbi
Movement Theatre (DeThrowned), among others. Central to their creative work is the cultivation
of dynamic performances and spaces for both the performer and audience.
Billy has also held arts and culture leadership roles with Central City Opera, Altarena
Playhouse, Ferndale Repertory Theatre, and South Street Seaport Museum.
Billy holds an M.F.A. in Ensemble Based Devised Theatre from Dell’Arte International School of
Physical Theatre, an M.Phil. From Trinity College Dublin, and a B.F.A. in Theatre and Dance
from the University of Wyoming. In addition to working with DCPA, his teaching credits include;
serving on the Movement Faculty of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Circus Smirkus, The
Turkmen Institute of Culture, and Prescott Circus Theatre.
