Become a Volunteer Usher with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Theatre Company
We rely on our volunteer ushers to provide legendary service to all of our patrons.  We are looking for individuals who are able to work in teams to provide invaluable services to our patrons.  These people are dedicated to patron service.

What is Expected of Ushers?
You are expected 90 minutes before curtain time or 60 minutes before curtain for the Garner Galleria Theatre.

Upon your arrival, you should sign in and start sorting programs.  Your House Manager will assign you a position and train you on the responsibilities of that location.

An Usher must be able to stand for a minimum of one hour, navigate stairs, lift a box of programs, and be able to read tickets.

Ushers are asked to wear and provide a long sleeved, white button up, collared shirt, with black socks, black dress pants, a black full-back vest and black shoes, no open front or back.  This dress code creates a professional appearance and identifies you as an usher.

Who is the Theatre Company looking for?
A Theatre Company Volunteer Usher should be comfortable interacting with the public, including proactively approaching patrons, and be able to follow the direction of the Manager. An usher must participate fully in all usher activities pre-show, during the performance and during intermission.  An usher should be prepared to assist the House Manager in cases of emergency.

We are seeking a person who can make a commitment to at least one spot every other week during the Theatre season.

All communication with Ushers is done via email.  Familiarity with and access to a computer, with the ability to consistently access the internet, navigate web pages and forms, read and response to emails sent to your unique email address.  Ushers must be willing to manage their schedule through our online tool. A direct phone number is also required in case of schedule changes or cancellations.

How Do You Join?

“Because I volunteer as a Tour Ambassador, I see the skill and pride the DCPA craftspeople bring to our productions. As a long-time subscriber, I know the quality of the onstage productions, so to keep our theatre at the top, I am happy to add a little to my ticket prices as a donor." — Barbara Thorngren
