What are the requirements to apply? Applicants must be able to:
- Commit to one shift every other week September-May
- Stand for a minimum of one hour
- Navigate stairs
- Lift a box of programs
- Read tickets
- Provide and wear a long sleeved, white button up, collared shirt; black socks; black slacks; black shoes (no open front or back)
Who is the DCPA looking for?
A Volunteer Usher should be comfortable interacting with the public, including proactively approaching patrons, and be able to follow the direction of the Manager. An usher must participate fully in all usher activities pre-show, during the performance and during intermission. An usher should be prepared to assist the House Manager in cases of emergency.
We are seeking a person who can make a commitment to at least one spot every other week during the Theatre season.
All communication with Ushers is done via email. Familiarity with and access to a computer, with the ability to consistently access the internet, navigate web pages and forms, read and response to emails sent to your unique email address. Ushers must be willing to manage their schedule through our online tool. A direct phone number is also required in case of schedule changes or cancellations.
