Matthew is an award-winning actor, playwright, director, and university professor. He made his Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated production of London Assurance and has worked professionally in New York City for the past 18 years. Since moving to Colorado in 2017, Matthew has performed at: The Colorado Shakespeare Festival (5 productions), Local Theatre Company’s The Rape of the Sabine Women (Henry Award Nomination), and in The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism… at Curious Theatre Company. Selected acting work includes: The Temperamentals (Drama Desk Award); The Merchant of Venice (The Royal Shakespeare Company, Featuring Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham and Directed by Tony winner Darko Tresjnak); A 12 Lb. Discourse (SoHo Rep, co-wrote and co-performed); Noises Off (Playmakers Rep); The Little Foxes (The Shakespeare Theatre of DC – Featuring Tony winner Elizabeth Ashley and Directed by Tony winner Doug Hughes); and Major Barbara (San Jose Rep-Dean Goodman Award). Matthew is the author of 12 plays and has held academic appointments at Southern Oregon University and The University of Kentucky.
He currently teaches Acting and Directing at UC-Denver. Matthew holds a BA in English Literature and Theater from Villanova University and a MFA in Acting from The National Theatre Conservatory.
