About our program
Learn from Broadway’s best when you join DCPA Education for its all-new Broadway Teen Master Class Series. Each class will be led by a visiting Broadway artist. Plus, participants will receive a low-cost offer to stay for the matinee!
Each workshop takes place in the Newman Center for Theatre Education at 1101 13th Street, right across the street from the Arts Complex in downtown Denver.

Learn about how the first national touring company not only brings the puppets to life, but also backstage how they prepare for a two-show day. This workshop will take place behind-the-scenes at the Buell Theatre.

Life of Pi Workshop
Life of Pi brings the transformative world of puppetry to life, activating our senses as we witness the magic of this metaphorical world and consider the essential question: How does telling stories help us cope and survive? Join us for a workshop inspired by the puppetry in Life of Pi for a close-up view of a rehearsal tiger puppet and to learn about the fundamental building blocks of puppetry — breath, focus, and motion — as you bring your puppet to life.

Broadway Choreography and THE WIZ
This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway — from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and finger-snapping 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world. Enjoy the epic grooves of such beloved, timeless hits as “Ease on Down the Road,” which became the show’s break-out single, and the bona fide classic “Home” in this spectacular revival. The Wiz workshop is a dynamite infusion of ballet, jazz, and modern pop that brings a whole new groove to easing on down the road.

The Art of Audition with the Cast of THE WIZ
Step up for this incredible opportunity to hone your audition technique with a Broadway pro! Explore all aspects of the audition process and make your materials shine with hands-on text work and coaching. Leave the class with greater confidence in your next audition!

The Music and Vocal of & Juliet
& Juliet features over two dozen of Max Martin’s global hits, including “Baby One More Time,” “I Kissed a Girl,” “Roar,” and “Can’t Stop The Feeling” to name but a few! The day will start with a full physical and vocal-warm up. You will be learning songs from the musical, working as a group, and adding harmonies. This is a great musical workshop if you are confident in singing in groups but want to challenge yourself with the repertoire you are singing.

The Broadway Choreography of & Juliet
