Stuart Barr
Education Technical Director
Stuart Barr has been the Technical Director for DCPA-Education since 2009. His duties have ranged from teaching with the National Theatre Conservatory to Production Stage Manager with the touring Shakespeare in the Parking Lot company. Stuart has been involved in the entertainment industry in various capacities since 1985 including: technical direction, scenic and lighting design, directing, stage management, acting and voice work. Stuart is a member of USITT and Actors’ Equity Association.Since moving to Colorado in 1996, Stuart has worked with Boulder’s Dinner Theatre, The Arvada Center, Town Hall Arts Center, The Country Dinner Playhouse, PHAMALY, The Aurora Fox, Imagination Makers, Colorado Stage Company, Mainstreet Players, The City of Northglenn, Coal Creek Community Theatre and Lafayette Community Theatre. He has taught technical theatre and scenic construction at The University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Arapahoe Community College and the Community College of Aurora.Stuart’s academic credits include: B.A. in Theatre, A.A.S. in Radio/TV Broadcasting, 2 years of study toward an M.F.A.-Scenography. Stuart also holds a license as a CMT-Certified Massage Therapist.
