Samuel D. Hunter’s
The Whale wins Lucille Lortel Award for BEST PLAY (as well as awards for Best Actor and Best Costumes) for its production at New York’s Playwrights Horizons. After its reading at the Summit in 2011 and 2012 world premiere at the Denver Center and the production at Playwrights Horizons,
The Whale also has been produced at South Coast Repertory and Victory Gardens.
In the upcoming 2013/14 season, we will be producing four plays that were read at last year’s New Play Summit:
Just Like Us by Karen Zacarías based on the book by Helen Thorpe (a DCTC commission).
The Most Deserving by Catherine Trieschmann,
black odyssey by Marcus Gardley (a DCTC commission) and
The Legend of Georgia McBride by Matthew Lopez.
