High School: Advanced Improv Showcase
Take the stage and turn up your confidence in this advanced improv showcase while doing a deep dive into your comedy and improv skills. This audition-based class will explore comic timing by learning how to balance heart and wit to create engaging, empathetic, and memorable narratives. If you are accepted into this course you will move beyond basic techniques and delve into deeper levels of performance and character work through more complex long-form improv formats such as:
- Harold: a long-form structure that explores and interweaves patterns, themes, and group ideas and discovery using the structure of an opening, three rounds of scenes, and group games.
- Armando: a monologue deconstruction long-form improv structure in which real-life stories from a person inspire improvised scene work.
- The Pretty Flower: a long-form structure that begins and continually returns to a central monoscene with fast-paced edits that branch out to explore funny ideas in connected scenes.
This course is limited to 16 students. To appl y,you must be enrolled in high school and have completed the 9th grade.
