Lights, laughter, action! In this interactive and high-energy class, students will jump into the exciting world of acting while building essential skills of a performer. Through solo and partner work, actors will strengthen their creativity, collaboration, and active listening while having a blast!
Over the six sessions, students will explore improvisation, objectives and actions, script analysis, theatre vocabulary, and core acting theory – the foundations that connect to all higher-level theatre courses. Whether you’re new to acting or ready to level up your skills, this class is all about exploring, expressing, and enjoying the art of performance. By the end, students will not only know the tools of the trade – they’ll be using them with confidence and flair!

This season’s theme – Rebellion & Revolution – will tie together powerful numbers from shows like Hamilton, SIX, Rent, Hadestown, and Newsies. The musical adventure follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of the world of Wonka. Interested in stage management? Apply for this unique, active, hands-on opportunity to be part of our Summer Teen Performance Series and take on the role of Production Stage Manager. With support from professional technical theatre artists, you’ll gain valuable insight into planning, noting, and calling a production as you work alongside a theatre director during rehearsals. Throughout the program, you’ll develop and implement essential skills such as time management, rehearsal communication, organizational strategies, and running the performance – tools that are vital to successful stage management. Each student selected for this opportunity will be assigned to either a middle school or a high school production, allowing for tailored experiences that match your interests and strengths. Looking for a challenge this summer? Ready to strengthen your craft? If you’re excelling in your school theatre department and looking for a challenge, this two-week conservatory-style intensive is crafted to elevate your performance skills and prepare you for a serious path in theatre and film. Modeled after top college acting programs, this experience is open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Led by professional artists from the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, students will strengthen their craft through focused training in acting technique, character development, voice and movement, and text analysis. Collaborate with passionate peers, build your actor’s toolbox, and rehearse scenes that push your artistry forward. This is a college-level course that requires outside preparation before the program begins, as well as ongoing work throughout the session. Students are expected to come ready to engage deeply, take creative risks, and commit to the process.
