In this DCPA Signature class, students will create a “one of a kind” mini musical using adventure packed Broadway favorites, such as Shrek, Pippin, Les Misérables, and Matilda, to inspire their own original story of adventure, friendship and overcoming all odds. Students will bring to life their own musical as they strengthen and grow their acting and singing technique. Each student will leave the class with the satisfaction of creating an entire mini musical to share with an eager audience.

Step into the Old West while singing and dancing in a student created musical, based on iconic Broadway shows such as Oklahoma, Annie Get Your Gun, Paint Your Wagon, The Robber Bridegroom, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! In this DCPA signature class, students grow their acting and singing skills as they create the story, lyrics and choreography for a never before seen musical. As they use their acting skills to transform their ideas, each student will leave the class with the satisfaction of creating an entire mini musical to share with an eager audience.

Grow your acting technique through the process of scene work. This class is a unique opportunity to move from improvisation work to scripted text. Focusing on play titles specific to the experiences of young people, this class will develop students’ abilities to analyze text and connect the words of a playwright to choices of emotion, relationship, and dramatic action. The class will require outside work in play reading and memorization, but rehearsals will take place during class sessions.
Prerequisite: Middle School Acting Technique OR any DCPA Middle School Summer classes.

In this hands-on class, you’ll explore the tools, skills, and strategies to produce a music video that tells the story of a song in a compelling way while utilizing your dancing and singing talents.
