In this class, you have the opportunity to collaborate with a working professional performer to develop your toolbox of acting essentials while exploring scene analysis, improvisation, and character objectives. Class sessions will focus on the developing, preparing, and rehearsing of an improv showcase while exploring the world of YES. The showcase format assures that your strengths and interests as a performer are featured while also providing insightful challenges for growing your personal technique and ensemble skills. Grow your acting technique through the process of scene work. This class is a unique opportunity to move from improvisation work to scripted text. Focusing on play titles specific to the experiences of young people, this class will develop students’ abilities to analyze text and connect the words of a playwright to choices of emotion, relationship, and dramatic action. The class will require outside work in play reading and memorization, but rehearsals will take place during class sessions.
Prerequisite: Middle School Acting Technique OR any DCPA Middle School Summer classes.

This workshop moves beyond games-for-games sake and into deeper opportunities to ignite your presence, activate your entire body, tap into your instincts, and drop into the moment. At their best, music videos are mini movies that visually capture the emotional context of a song and can even expand on the song’s lyrics. In this hands-on class, you’ll explore the tools, skills, and strategies to produce a music video that tells the story of a song in a compelling way while utilizing your dancing and singing talents.

In this interactive class we will discover the tools of voice acting and create unique voice-over characters for animation, video games, storytelling, YouTube, and podcasts. While voice-over may appear to be a solitary skill, it rests in the traditions of theatre’s structures, skills, and tools.
