Why we recommend it: Watch this classic ’50s sci-fi film adaptation where Prospero’s island is replaced by a distant planet in space. Prospero becomes Dr. Morbius, a stranded astronaut who’s discovered and created his own world, including his sometimes helpful slave, Robby the Robot.

Why we recommend it: Characters in The Tempest experience the highs and lows of power with much suffering involved. Ava Max explores a similar dichotomy with her debut album, Heaven & Hell, packaged in infectious pop. Max explores themes like manipulation, love, and conflicted feelings that are also present in The Tempest but adds in female empowerment messages that, in a different world, could be aimed at Miranda to create a different ending to the play. A strong debut album that places Max on the pop throne.
