Today the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) named Angela Lakin as its Vice President of Marketing & Sales. Angela will oversee an 82-person team that manages all marketing, sales and patron services for the $70 million nonprofit organization, which engages 703,000 individuals including 100,000 students through its six pillars — Broadway, Theatre Company, Off-Center, Cabaret, Event Services, and Education & Community Engagement. She begins on June 19.
With 22 years of experience in the American theatre, Angela joins the DCPA from her most recent position as Marketing & Communications Director at Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, FL where she oversaw marketing, ticketing and guest services of a professional LORT (League of Resident Theatres) organization. Prior to that, she served as Vice President of Marketing for the Peace Center for the Performing Arts (SC), Event Marketing Director at Amalie Arena (FL), and Marketing Director for Straz Center for the Performing Arts (FL). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of South Florida. Angela has served as Chair of the Performing Arts Centers Consortium’s Marketing Executives committee and the Co-Chair of The Broadway Leagues’ Road Marketing Committee.
“As someone who has spent years in the venue, Broadway and professional theatre industries, the Denver Center has always been an organization I’ve admired,” Lakin said. “The DCPA has built an incredible national reputation as a premier destination for Broadway tours, a leader in new play development, and an incubator for immersive experiences. I look forward to contributing to this incredible organization and, by extension, the metro Denver community.”
“We are delighted to welcome Angela to our family,” said DCPA President & CEO Janice Sinden. “Angela’s experience in both the Broadway touring industry as well as locally produced theatre companies make her rare among her national peers. She brings a combination of marketing, PR and customer service skills that will allow her to amplify the efforts of our extraordinary marketing and sales team as well as our 360+ member volunteer corps.”
Angela joins the DCPA’s Executive Team: Janice Sinden (President & CEO), Jamie Clements (VP of Development), Chris Coleman (Artistic Director, Theatre Company), John Ekeberg (Executive Director, Broadway & Cabaret), Lydia Garcia (Executive Director of Equity & Organization Culture), Gretchen Hollrah (COO), Laura Maresca (VP of HR), Charlie Miller (Executive Director & Curator, Off-Center), Lisa Roebuck (VP of IT), Charles Varin (Managing Director, Theatre Company), Allison Watrous (Executive Director of Education & Community Engagement) and Jane Williams (CFO).
