Ginger Cocktails from the DCPA Restaurant Partners

Small but mighty, the Gingerbread Man – known to friends as Gingy – packs a punch in Shrek The Musical. One of the predominant flavors of gingerbread is, of course, ginger. We asked our restaurant partners to provide a few cocktails in honor of Gingy and his formidable personality.

The Corner Office | Shrek’s Ginger Cocktail

1401 Curtis Street | 303.825.6500

Ingredients:

2 oz Gin
.5 oz Green Chartreuse
.5 oz Ginger Liqueur
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.5 oz Simple Syrup
Soda Water
Fresh Mint Leaves
Thinly Sliced Fresh Ginger

Instructions:

Start by chilling your cocktail glass in the freezer. A frosted glass will add to the refreshing experience.

In a shaker, combine the gin, green Chartreuse, ginger liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Add a handful of ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Remove the glass from the freezer and fill it halfway with ice cubes. Strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared glass. Top it off with soda water for a light fizz. Add a sprig of fresh mint and a few thin slices of fresh ginger to the glass. For an extra Shrek touch, you could also rim the glass with green sugar or add a green edible flower. Give the cocktail a gentle stir and enjoy your Shrek-inspired ginger concoction!

.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
.5 oz Pear Simple Syrup (1 pear, 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar)
3 oz Champagne
Ginger Ale
Fresh mint leaves

Instructions:

First, make your pear simple syrup. Combine one peeled, muddled (smashed) pear with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a pot. Simmer over low heat until the sugar dissolves. Then, remove the pear and strain.

Shake the lemon juice and pear simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a champagne glass. Top off with champagne, then the ginger ale. Garnish with mint or a thin slice of pear on the rim. This recipe can be made spirit free by replacing the champagne with more ginger ale.
