Saturday Night Alive 2023 Recap

For the first time in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ history, Saturday Night Alive offered an insider’s look at how DCPA Theatre Company productions are brought to life. Held on March 11, the 42nd annual fundraiser welcomed more than 500 guests and netted $642,000 benefiting theatre and education programs.

The impact of the community’s investment in the DCPA was on display with costumes, set pieces, and props from past productions exhibited throughout the Bonfils Theatre Complex. The soiree also featured the signature online auction, including set pieces and costumes from DCPA productions, VIP DCPA Theatre experiences, and travel packages all over the world. After the seated, three-course dinner in the Seawell Ballroom, guests were able to choose their entertainment for the evening between Hotter Than Egypt and Laughs in Spanish. The event closed with a silent disco afterparty.

During the evening’s celebration, Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock was honored with the Daniel L. Ritchie Spotlight Award for his administration’s support of arts and culture, which allowed the DCPA to launch and complete the “A Grander Opening” capital campaign. This ambitious campaign renovated and revitalized the Bonfils Theatre Complex with more than $19 million in assistance from Denver bond initiatives.

Saturday Night Alive was led by Trustee Co-Chairs Ruth Krebs & Peter Mannetti, and Community Co-Chairs Elaine Torres & Phil Workman.

Since its inception, Saturday Night Alive has raised more than $23 million to support locally produced plays, onsite acting classes, and in-school educational programs.
