Dean Singleton

Dean Singleton founded MediaNews Group in 1983, which became one of the largest newspaper companies in the U.S. with 56 daily papers in 12 states, one of which was The Denver Post. He served in various positions — Chairman, CEO and Publisher — of The Post from 1987 to 2013. He currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the DCPA’s Board of Trustees and as President of Helen G. Bonfils Foundation, which was created to support the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. In September 2018, Dean made a signature gift to the DCPA’s A Grander Opening capital campaign to name the Singleton Theatre and adjacent Singleton Bar.

Dean has previously been on the Board for the Associated Press Board of Directors, National Sports Center for the Disabled, University of Denver, Volunteers of America, and Winter Park Recreational Association Board, among others. He attended the University of Texas – Arlington, El Centro College and Tyler Junior College.

“Don Seawell asked me to promise him that after he was gone, I would help watch over the DCPA as a trustee and make sure it stays on its mission. I love the place, the theatre, the trustees, so it’s an easy commitment to keep.”
