DCPA Announces the Return of Theatre for Young Audiences Favorite, Goodnight Moon

Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is proud to announce the return of the Theatre for Young Audiences audience favorite, Goodnight Moon, based on the beloved children’s book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. The DCPA will stage 155 student matinee and public performances of this whimsical musical tailored for Pre-K through 3rd grade audiences in the Randy Weeks Conservatory Theatre beginning October 24.

Since the inception of Theatre for Young Audiences, the program has welcomed over 125,000 children and families to experience theatre for the first time. Goodnight Moon was first produced for Theatre for Young Audiences in 2019 and had audiences and critics raving with Onstage Colorado calling it a “rich, magical experience,” Colorado Parent adding that it is an “excellent introduction to theater for young audiences,” and audiences agreeing, “It was pure magic!”

“It was such a joy to bring Goodnight Moon to our youngest theatregoers for the first time in 2019, and I am thrilled to be able to bring it back six years later for a whole new group to grow and experience this beloved story coming to life,” said Executive Director of Education and Community Engagement Allison Watrous. “Theatre for Young Audiences continues to ignite the imagination and creativity of young people and we love that we can be the start of their journey for a lifetime of love of storytelling through theatre.”

Tickets will go on sale this summer. For more information on student matinee reservations and ticket on-sale details, visit denvercenter.org.

Introduce your little bunny to the magic of theatre with the return of Goodnight Moon!

As the clock strikes seven o’clock, all your favorite characters in the Great Green Room spring to life on stage: Bunny, kittens and mittens, bears and chairs, the red balloon, a (not-so-quiet) old lady, and – of course – cows jumping over the magical moon.

Featuring whimsical music and dance, this captivating adaptation of one of the world’s most popular children’s books is returning to the stage after overwhelming demand during its original run in the 2019/20 season. Bring your children to their first theatre experience and spark a lifetime of wonder!

Goodnight Moon is part of the DCPA’s Theatre for Young Audiences program, which focuses on performances tailored for Pre-K through 3rd grade audiences.
