Matthew McConaughey and Celine Dion walk into The Garner Galleria Theatre….
It sounds like the start of a bar joke, but it is much more… it is NEWSical The Musical, currently playing at the Garner Galleria Theatre through September 25. This fast-paced sketch comedy musical looks at everything in the news, politics and pop culture. Let’s meet the multi-talented cast of four who take on many impressions show after show in Denver.
Kristen Alderson is best known for her Emmy award winning eighteen- year portrayal of Starr Manning on the ABC daytime dramas “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital.” She also originated the role of Kiki Jerome on “General Hospital.” Most recently she was seen in “Mélange” opposite Morgan Fairchild. Kristen played the role of Cindy Lou in the off-Broadway revival of The Marvelous Wonderettes and Molly in the first Broadway revival of Annie. Kristen’s vocals were featured many times throughout the years on both “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital.” Kristen is extremely excited to be the newest member of the NEWsical cast. She thanks the whole cast for being so much fun and welcoming to work with, along with producer Tom D’Angora for believing in her!
Taylor Crousore’s off-Broadway credits include A Musical About Star Wars (which he co-wrote and starred in), The Blueprint Specials at the Public’s UTR Festival, Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging! and NEWSical The Musical! Regional credits include Beauty and the Beast (Gaston), Peter Pan (Captain Hook), The Music Man (Harold Hill), Million Dollar Quartet (Sam Phillips), and Paul Gordon’s new musical Pride and Prejudice (Mr. Wickham) which is now streaming on Amazon Prime. TV: “The Friday Zone” and “America’s Got Talent.”
Dylan Hartwell is thrilled to be returning to NEWsical having performed in the Off-Broadway production alongside celebrity guests LaToya Jackson and Kandi Burruss! A NYC-based writer and actor. Dylan graduated from NYU Tisch with degrees in both Screenwriting and Drama. As artists-in-residence with The New Works Lab at Stratford, he and collaborator Benny Gammerman have had original musicals produced through Barrington Stage, New York Theatre Barn, and La Jolla Playhouse. Favorite roles include Fabrizio in The Light in the Piazza (Carbonell Award Nominee) Chris in Hands on A Hardbody, and Rocky in the Rocky Horror Show. Most recently, Dylan co-created Three Men and a Baby Grand with husband Greg Sullivan & Richard Rogers award-winner Brandon James Gwinn. Carly Sakolove is happy to be here in Denver after having performed in NEWSical The Musical several times over the last eight years! Carly played Rosie in the Broadway national tour of Mamma Mia! and Ethel Merman in the premiere of The Book of Merman Off Broadway. She also played Betty Jean in the Off-Broadway revival of The Marvelous Wonderettes! Carly’s viral YouTube video “Broadway Divas Send in the Clowns” featuring her celebrity impersonations, prompted her cabaret career in NYC and at sea. You can watch Carly as Georgia on the season finale of upcoming Netflix show “The Watcher” and as Mrs. Norman Maine in Joanna Gleason’s new film, The Grotto. Boston Conservatory graduate.
