This absurdist self-aware zombie comedy by director Jim Jarmusch is set in the small town of Centerville. Triggered by polar fracking, the dead rise from their graves and wreak havoc on the at times stoic, eccentric, and otherworldly town citizens.While both a comedy and zombie movie, The Dead Don’t Die also serves as a commentary on environmental issues and human passivity in the face of their own destruction.
What Moves the Dead

This Ruritanian Romance horror novella, set in Ruravia, centers on retired soldier Alex Easton. Easton travels to the Ushers’ ancestral home and finds it in disrepair, surrounded by fungus and a dark, unsettling tarn. The mystery begins when Easton and various other characters interact with Roderick Usher, and Roderick’s twin sister, terminally ill Madeline. Based on the short story “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allen Poe, the novella received critical acclaim, winning the 2023 Locus Award for Best Horror Novel and became a finalist for the 2023 Hugo Award for Best Novella.

Continue to enjoy macabre nonsense with this biography of Edward Gorey, the Grandfather of Goth. Gorey designed the intricate bat-themed set and costumes for the 1977 Broadway revival of Dracula, which won a Tony. Gorey’s works are dark and eccentric, full of dreadful mishaps yet oddly lighthearted.
