Grow + Gather
Little Shop of Horrors has the entire city of Denver in a botanical frame of mind. Not to worry – there are certainly spots around town with plants that aren’t interested in your blood.
Whether you’re looking for a coffee shop, bookstore, restaurant, or bar, these local businesses have got you covered for foliage and fun.
DANDY LION COFFEE CO.
This local, woman and AAPI-owned coffee shop in the Park Hill neighborhood brings you delectable coffee, pastries, and plants. Operating as both a craft coffee shop and plant store, you can pick up a matcha latte and a monstera.
THE BROKEN CAGE
Another spot functioning as both a plant shop and place for libations is The Broken Cage in Riverfront. The bar whips up plenty of classic and specialty cocktails, like the Black Smoke with mezcal, blueberries, and orange blossom.
THE MARIGOLD
If you’re in Five Points rather than Riverfront, stop by The Marigold for a drink and some daisies. Filled to the brim with foliage, patrons can purchase plants while sipping on specialty cocktails or a gin flight.
PLANT MAGIC CAFÉ
For a self-described ‘psychedelic’ experience at a coffee shop, visit Plant Magic Café in Uptown. On the menu are “Magic Lattes,” infused with plant medicines like licorice root, dandelion root, and chamomile. The ambience is calming and homey with lots of natural foliage and herbs.
OFFSHOOTS AT THE GARDENS CAFÉ
For a more literal botanic experience, stop by the Denver Botanic Gardens and grab a bite to eat at the Offshoots Café. With a full-service coffee bar, pastries, and light bites, this café is the perfect spot to revel in a bit of nature. Plus, Botanic Gardens members get a discount!
THE FEEDERY AT GROW + GATHER
A bit further south in Englewood is The Feedery, which includes a local market, restaurant, and coffee shop. A rooftop greenhouse and urban farm provide ingredients, keeping ‘farm to table’ all in the same building.
STANLEY MARKETPLACE
If you’re interested in plants, drinks, and food all under one roof, it’s time to explore Stanley Marketplace in Aurora. Plant and supply store Rust Garden, plus floral and gift shop Poppy & Pine, are just two of the local businesses in the hall. Grab a coffee, a bagel or an empanada, and wander through the dozens of additional offerings.
ROWDY POPPY
If you’re more into flowers than houseplants, you don’t want to miss Rowdy Poppy’s Flower Hour events in RiNo. Invite your friends, enjoy a glass of wine, and create your own floral arrangement. Flower Hours are usually hosted on Wednesdays and Thursdays but check the Rowdy Poppy website for details.
PETALS & PAGES
If you’re a weekend morning shopper, there’s no better place to visit than Petals & Pages in the Art District on Santa Fe. Both a bookstore and florist (with a coffee shop in the works!), you can flip through the pages of your next book while admiring local art and botanicals.
