Winners Announced for 2023 Bobby G Awards

After walking a red carpet for interviews and photo ops, hundreds of students and educators were joined by family and friends at the Bobby G Awards ceremony on May 18 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Performances by the five nominated Overall Production schools took place throughout the evening as well as a medley sung by the ten nominated Lead Performers. The event was hosted by Abby Linderman, 2019 Outstanding Lead Actress winner.

After an astounding ten nominations, Lakewood High School’s production of Something Rotten took home five Bobby G Awards, including Outstanding Overall Production and Outstanding Lead Performer for Connor O’Brian, who portrayed Shakespeare. The second Outstanding Lead Performer winner, Camille Nugent, portrayed Alice Murphy in Fossil Ridge High School’s Bright Star.

A new award category was added this year to recognize Outstanding Achievement in Stage Management, which went to Amelia Mindlin-Leitner and her work on Cherry Creek High School’s Man of La Mancha. During the ceremony, the award was named in honor of Bobby G Awards program manager, Claudia Carson, who advocated strongly for its realization. Carson will retire this summer after 20 years at the DCPA.
