This month, we’re honored to highlight and uplift the Mexican Cultural Center, an organization that connects communities through culture, education, and Día del Niño
For more than 30 years, the Mexican Cultural Center has shared Mexican art, culture, and traditions with communities across Colorado. Founded in 1992, the organization partners with museums, performing arts organizations, and community groups to create accessible cultural experiences that foster learning, creativity, and connection.
A signature initiative, Día del Niño (Day of the Child) is one of the Mexican Cultural Center’s most recognizable programs. Rooted in a Mexican tradition honoring children and their well-being, the celebration has grown into a large-scale, family-centered cultural event held in partnership with organizations across the metro area.
These events invite children and families to engage in performances, storytelling, and hands-on activities that spark creativity, curiosity, and cultural pride, creating joyful opportunities to experience culture, art, and learning together.
DCPA Community Engagement partners with the Mexican Cultural Center primarily through its annual Día del Niño (Day of the Child) celebrations and ongoing community-based collaborations. Our partnership includes:
Together, these efforts expand access to the performing arts and create welcoming entry points for children and families to engage with creativity, culture, and live performance.
The Mexican Cultural Center creates meaningful opportunities for children and families to experience culture, creativity, and community together. Through partnerships like Día del Niño, children are centered in welcoming, joyful cultural spaces that uplift their voices, encourage self-expression, and strengthen connections across generations—while celebrating the richness of Mexican heritage.
