This month, we’re honored to highlight and uplift Women’s Bean Project, a Denver-based nonprofit helping women build confidence, skills, and long-term self-sufficiency.
Women’s Bean Project is a transformative nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to helping women build lasting independence through meaningful work, personal growth, and community support.
Together, DCPA and Women’s Bean Project have created opportunities for participants to explore creativity, build professional skills, and connect with the arts through:
At its core, Women’s Bean Project creates stepping stones to self-sufficiency for women facing significant barriers to employment — including chronic unemployment, housing instability, lack of education or job skills, and justice involvement. Participants are hired into transitional employment, where they earn income, develop real work experience, and receive comprehensive support services such as life skills training, job readiness development, and one-on-one coaching.
Through hands-on work producing and packaging quality food products sold nationwide, women gain confidence, accountability, and the practical skills needed to secure long-term employment.
When women gain stability, confidence, and economic independence, their families and communities thrive. Through our collaboration, participants have strengthened their storytelling abilities, expanded their artistic experiences, and developed professional skills that support their success beyond the program.
