While Charles Perrault’s original 17th-century tale of Little Red Riding Hood featured a Big Bad Wolf, DCPA Education’s Little Red adaptation by Chad Henry is anything but scary. In fact, this tale, running through December 23, shows the young girl befriending all woodland creatures including the lost wolf.
It seems fitting, then, that the DCPA would also befriend its local partners to expand and enrich this play well beyond the stage. A special word of thanks to the following organizations for their participation.
PRE-SHOW WITH THE DENVER MUSEUM OF NATURE & SCIENCE
DCPA Education Studio 8
Newman Center for Theatre Education at 1101 13th St., 3rd Fl.
Little tykes who attend a performance of Little Red on November 18 have an opportunity to join the Denver Museum of Nature & Science for pre-show activities. Kids will understand what to look for when tracking an animal, get to feel various animal hides and participate in other interactive activities. Free with a ticket to the 1:30pm or 3:30pm showtimes.
PRE- OR POST-SHOW WITH THE DENVER PUBLIC LIBRARY
Outside the Newman Center for Theatre Education along Arapahoe St.
If Little Red gets your little one excited about reading, then step into the Denver Public Library’s Bookmobile on December 2 from 1-5pm. This traveling library will be parked outside of the theatre so children, parents and guardians can view and check out books. Library visits are free and library cards may be requested on site.
