Get to Know the Improvisers in The Improvised Shakespeare Company®

Performers in period-style costumes standing on a theater stage facing a seated audience under dramatic stage lighting.

Meet the five improvisers who make a new Shakespearean masterpiece each night.

Founded in Chicago in 2005, The Improvised Shakespeare Company® has become one of the most acclaimed improv troupes in the world. Based on a single audience suggestion — the title of a play that has never been written — the company creates a brand-new, fully improvised Shakespearean performance right before your eyes. Nothing is planned, rehearsed, or written. Every line of dialogue is spoken for the first time, and every character takes shape in the moment. If you find yourself wondering where the story is going, the performers are wondering the same thing.

Known for comedy that is equal parts silly and smart, the troupe continues to win over first-timers and longtime fans alike. The 2026 engagement marks its sixth appearance at the Garner Galleria Theatre, where it has built a devoted following among Denver audiences. The July 26 matinee will mark its 315th performance.

So, who is the cast behind the ever-changing cast of characters? With only five of them improvising at any given performance, here’s a look at The Players for the rest of the 2026 Denver engagement.
