Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Celebrates Topping Out of New Facility

Later this year, there will be a new cultural facility in Denver when Cleo Parker Robinson Dance (CPRD) celebrates the opening of its new facility —   The Cleo Parker Robinson Center for the Healing Arts. The 25,000 square foot expansion designed by Fentress Architects will connect to the Historic Shorter AME landmark. Together with its new Studio A, CPRD’s facilities will offer a theater, healing arts center, movement studios, activity rooms for multi-disciplinary arts classrooms, and a shared office space for resident partners.

But first, the company along with supporters and elected officials, joined together to mark a significant milestone at the topping out ceremony. Held on January 8 with the placement of the final beam, the event marked the completion of the structural phase of the project. “Reaching the topping out stage, said Dave Espinsoa Project Executive at Mortenson, “is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team, partners, and the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance leadership.”

Made possible with support from a $4 million Community Revitalization grant from Colorado Creative Industries, New Market Tax Credits, and contributions from individuals and foundations, this project perfectly demonstrates the community’s support of connecting culture and community.

Located in Denver’s thriving Five Points neighborhood, the company has served students and patrons since 1970. Its new facility will set the foundation for growth and expansion to serve more of the community through scholarships, employment, and entertainment, which support Colorado’s creative economy.

“We are thrilled to see our vision coming to life,” said Founder and Artistic Director Cleo Parker Robinson. “This new facility will not only accommodate our growing needs but also serve as a vibrant hub for cultural diversity and artistic innovation in Denver.”
